Nambung trails & lookouts

Start with a clear drive vs sandy walk decision. Pinnacles loop + optional Desert View lookout covers most first Perth day trips. Distances, grades and times below are planning ranges — always confirm on Explore Parks WA / DBCA and park alerts. Weather, closures and stair status change.

Decide before you start

  • Easy: Pinnacles Drive pull-overs, accessible Desert View lookout, Lake Thetis boardwalk, Hangover Bay picnic.
  • Moderate: Desert View sandy Class 3 among the pinnacles — heat and sand, not a gorge.
  • There isn’t a “hard circuit” here: this park is not multi-day camping or 4WD country. Heat is the limiter.

Trying to do two big walks plus the postcard lookout is how first visits go wrong. Pick the table row that matches your energy, then open the full trail guide.

Time
Typical 1–3 hours on site including Discovery Centre and photo stops (most visitors 1–2 hours)
Distance
